{"id":889,"date":"2018-07-26T19:32:58","date_gmt":"2018-07-26T19:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/endostlaurent.com\/?p=889\/"},"modified":"2018-08-06T18:25:10","modified_gmt":"2018-08-06T18:25:10","slug":"curved-root","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/endostlaurent.com\/en\/2018\/07\/26\/curved-root\/","title":{"rendered":"Curved Root"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>A case study by Dr. Chafic Safi, Centre Endodontique St-Laurent<\/em><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A 22 year-old patient presented to our clinic with the following main complaint:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>&#8220;A piece of my tooth broke while eating almonds.&#8221;<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title left\">CLINICAL AND RADIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS &#8211; Tooth 16<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Clinical examination demonstrates a complicated fracture (fracture of enamel and dentin with pulpal exposure) <\/span><span class=\"s1\">and caries. The tooth responded normally to cold test and percussion. Probing and mobility were normal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The radiological examination demonstrates the extent of the fracture. The mesial and distal roots\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">were severely curved. periapical tissues.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title left\">TREATMENT<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The treatment options offered to the patient were:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Root Canal Treatment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Extraction<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Treatment selection<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The patient wanted to save his tooth and consented to do the root canal discussed with the patient:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Perforation especially at the level of curvature<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">File separation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Ledge and blockage of the canals<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span class=\"s1\"><b>Execution<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Working lengths were found with #6 hand files and confirmed with # 10 hand files<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">A glide path was created using Scout Files<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Instrumentation with XP-3D Shaper and Finisher files<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Root canal filling with Bioceramic
