{"id":800,"date":"2018-01-25T06:00:24","date_gmt":"2018-01-25T06:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.endostlaurent.ca\/2018\/01\/25\/unusual-anatomy-2-palatal-canals-copy\/"},"modified":"2018-01-25T18:58:56","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T18:58:56","slug":"lets-pull-that-file-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/endostlaurent.com\/en\/2018\/01\/25\/lets-pull-that-file-away\/","title":{"rendered":"LET&#8217;S PULL&#8230; THAT FILE AWAY !"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>A case study by Dr. Chafic Safi, Centre Endodontique St-Laurent<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A 45 year-old<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>female presented themselves to our office with a chief complaint: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI need to complete my root canal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"title left\">Analysis<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Clinical examination revealed the presence of a temporary restoration on tooth #21 with a previous access cavity. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">The tooth was normal to percussion. Probing and mobility were within normal limits. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Radiological examination revealed the presence of a separated file in a very narrow and calcified canal. There was also thickening of the PDL space.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Diagnosis<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">The diagnosis was:\u00a0<b><\/b><\/span><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b>Previously initiated therapy and asymptomatic apical periodontitis.<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><b><\/b>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title left\">Treatment<\/h2>\n<p>The treatment options that were offered to the patient were:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Root canal treatment with retrieval of the file. Prognosis: Favorable<\/li>\n<li>Extraction. The canal was obturated using Bioceramic Sealer and Bioceramic Gutta Percha, offering superior biologic sealing and biocompatibility.
